Known Issues:
- Game takes a few seconds too long to end the task after closing and sometimes gets 'stuck' as if it were running indefinitely. Players usually notice this through Steam reporting them as still playing Chroma Tower even after they've quit the game.
- Some players might still witness stuttering issues even on high-end machines. We understand this is incredibly inconvenient for the affected players, but know that it is being worked on. We have done a considerable optimization pass on the game, but this stuttering issue is not related to overall performance itself, but rather to a networking reconciliation quirk that is being investigated.
- Audio stuttering/crackling issues on players with very specific CPUs.
- Main Menu navigation is still far from ideal (esc key should close pop-ups, return to the 'play' tab, etc)
- Crafting legendary items requires epic color fragments (although in higher quantity than epic items), rather than its own legendary-grade materials.
- Enemy AI is far more cheese-able than we would like. We're working on a full AI overhaul and new Enemy AI capacities such as breaking obstacles and other ways to get around... "higher-altitude" players. With the AI overhaul, we'll also introduce aggro mechanics for parties to keep track of, including taunting and disengaging skills and aggro-based runes and effects.
- Twin Statues have no VFX and only placeholder SFX on their abilities and animations . This entire new enemy/event is in a lower "readyness stage" than our other assets. We'll attempt to work on this during the playtest and release an update ASAP, seeing as the VFX is functionally important for players to learn attack cues and area of effect radiuses.
- Cursed Forge has reused (placeholder) VFX and SFX on the entire event.
- We could not reproduce the FPS drop when drawing bows and using the Hunter's Q. This was a noticeable issue with specific players last playtest and we're hoping the issue has gone away with the many other optimizations and changes we've made.
New Features:
- Factions & Territories
- Choose Your Side: Players have to align with one of the two major factions vying for control of Chroma Tower. Each faction offers unique benefits and has their own agenda.
- Territory Control: As you escape the Tower and extract treasures, your faction gains influence over different territories. Territories controlled by your faction provide special perks. These may vary from hefty discounts and cheaper crafting costs to enhanced power and handy combat advantages.
- Specific territories are up for grabs and members of both factions will have to race to raise the most amount of influence and retain the disputed territories' bonuses.
- Defend your Home: The Archmage will fight back. Both factions are subject to losing their conquered territories if they let the Lairs' raids reach them.
- Reforging
- Reforging rerolls an item’s attributes’ values, but not the actual attributes.
- Reforging also increases an item’s quality level by 1, up to +6. Quality levels increase weapons’ attribute scaling and all items’ dynamic attributes by 5%. But remember, reforging also rerolls the item’s base values, so it might not always be an improvement.
- Players can “reset” their item quality level to attempt more rerolls.
- Reforging can be accessed from the Forgemaster screen.
- Socketing
- Item sockets and runes have been added to the game. Runes can be slotted into item sockets to provide them with special effects. These range from simple “+attribute” to more complex ability-like effects, such as “knocks back enemy attackers (60 seconds cooldown).”
- Added a new crafting material used to insert new sockets into items.
- 32 new Rune items have been added to the game.
- Items have a very low chance of dropping with sockets in them.
- Socketing can be accessed from the Forgemaster screen.
- Cursed Forge
- The Cursed Forge can now be found within the Tower. If you provide it with an item and face its trials, it will imbue your item with one of the following effects:
- Quality Level +7-+10 (only if the original item was +6)
- +1 dynamic attribute, rolled using the same rules as the item’s other dynamic attributes.
- Transformed into a unique version of that same archetype.
- Upgraded to a higher rarity of the same item.
- Gains +1 socket (ignoring the usual socket limits for that archetype. For example, an arming sword that normally caps at 1 socket can have 2 sockets if it was inserted with 1 already).
- Gains +30% to all values of all its static and dynamic attributes, except for movement speed penalties.
- New Mini-Boss.
- Two new modules and 12 new Monastery variants.
- New consumable.
- Players may now reconnect to ongoing matches if their game crashes or their connection is lost.
- Image Settings
- Added Brightness, Contrast and Saturation sliders.
- Added a “Low Bitrate Mode” to help streamers with platforms’ bitrate limitations.
